What it means

A request from the EEOC asking a party to provide specific documents, records, answers, or other information during an investigation.

Why it matters

An RFI creates concrete response work: identify an owner, preserve the request, gather responsive records, coordinate review, track the deadline, document what was supplied, and retain the supporting history.
